AIRC is found in plants such as solanum tuberosum, where it functions in the synthesis of starch. It has been shown to be involved in physiological processes, including enzymatic reactions and growth factors.The enzyme is activated by hydrochloric acid and pyridine phosphate, which are its substrates.
