Description

Chloromethyldimethylethoxysilane is an organic solvent that has a cross-linking function. It can be used in coatings, adhesives, and other areas where it is necessary to form a chemical bond between two polymers or between a polymer and another substrate. Chloromethyldimethylethoxysilane reacts with the hydroxyl groups of polysiloxanes to form cross-links between the molecules. This reaction can be accomplished by radiation or proton bombardment. Chloromethyldimethylethoxysilane is soluble in water, alcohols, benzene, ethers, ketones, esters, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
The phenyl groups on the chloromethyldimethylethoxysilane molecule are susceptible to substitution reactions with amines such as ammonia or ethylamine. These substitutions allow for the formation of organosilicon compounds that have
