N-Isopropylmethacrylamide is a monomer that belongs to the group of cationic polymers. It is used in copolymerization with other monomers such as styrene, methyl acrylate, or acrylic acid to form polymers with high molecular weight and properties that depend on the composition of the copolymer. N-Isopropylmethacrylamide has a phase transition temperature of -95°C and a hydrogen bond interaction energy of 0.9 kcal/mol. This polymer can be deuterated to help with microscopy studies. The morphology of this polymer can also be changed by changing the concentration and type of cations present during polymerization.
