Informations sur le produit
2-Iodo-5-phenylthiophene is an x-ray contrast agent that has been used to identify the structure of proteins, nucleic acids, and other organic molecules. It is also a reagent for organic synthesis and can be used to isolate phenylthiohydantoin. This compound has high yield and can be synthesized with stereocontrolled conditions. 2-Iodo-5-phenylthiophene reacts with phenylhydrazine in a reaction mixture to form 2,5-diphenylthiophene. The reaction is performed in the presence of concentrated hydrochloric acid, which produces hydrogen gas and 2,5-diphenylthiophene. The product is purified by distillation or recrystallization.
