Description

1H-Indole-1-carboxylic acid is a potential therapeutic agent that has shown potent antiinflammatory activity. It inhibits the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1 and TNF-α, which are involved in the inflammatory process. Furthermore, 1H-indole-1-carboxylic acid was shown to have potent inhibitory activities on serine proteases, such as trypsin and chymotrypsin. This drug also prevents the activation of 17β-estradiol by activating its enantiomeric form. It is also known to inhibit the production of prostaglandins and nitric oxide, which may contribute to its antiinflammatory effects. 1H-Indole-1-carboxylic acid is an extracellular drug that can be used for the treatment of hypertension and bladder cancer.
