Description

N-Methyl-N-phenethyl-2-phenylethanamine is a drug that is used to treat depression and diabetic neuropathy. It was first synthesized in the 1930s, but it was not until the 1990s that its antidepressant properties were discovered. NMPEA belongs to a class of drugs called monoamine neurotransmitters, which are chemical messengers that affect mood and behavior. NMPEA also has been shown to be effective against nerve injury, which may be due to its ability to increase the production of nerve growth factor. This drug does not dissolve in water, so it must be reconstituted with an appropriate solvent before use. Reconstitution should occur in a well-ventilated room and gloves should be worn at all times during reconstitution and administration. The recommended dose for oral administration is 2 mg per day administered as 1 mg twice daily or 0.5 mg three times daily.
