3,4-Diaminophenylsulphur pentafluoride is a fluorinated analogue of the drug trifluoromethylphenyldiazeniumdiolate. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of microbial demethylation and quinoxalines synthesis, and is an important tool for research into microbial biotransformation. 3,4-Diaminophenylsulphur pentafluoride is synthesized by reacting an aromatic amine with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a nickel catalyst. This method provides a convenient synthetic route to 3,4-diaminophenylsulphur pentafluoride that does not require the use of toxic reagents like phosphorus oxychloride or phosphorous pentachloride.
