4-(4-Chlorophenyl)butan-1-amine (PCPA) is a histamine receptor antagonist that has been shown to have affinity for the human histamine H3 receptor. PCPA has been shown to be a potent, selective, and competitive antagonist of the histamine H3 receptor in rat brain. In addition, PCPA has been shown to inhibit the release of histamine in rat brain. PCPA also blocks the binding of histamine to its receptors and inhibits cyclic AMP accumulation. The compound was found to have good potency and selectivity for this target site. Silico docking studies show that PCPA binds well with the human histamine H3 receptor and is able to inhibit it from activating downstream proteins.
