Description

2',3'-Dideoxyuridine-5'-triphosphate lithium salt (ddUTP) is a nucleotide analog that can be incorporated into DNA, RNA, or other nucleic acid. It is used in the preparation of DNA and RNA for use in hybridization experiments, such as Southern and Northern blots. ddUTP has been shown to have high specificity for binding to estradiol benzoate with a Kd of 0.02 nM. This nucleotide analog also forms ternary complexes with dsDNA and monoclonal antibodies, which are then detected using colloidal gold labeling or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The detection sensitivity of ddUTP has been shown to be comparable to that of the more commonly used 3'-deoxyuridine triphosphate (dUTP).
