4,6-Dichloro-2-methylsulfonylpyrimidine (DCP) is a chemical compound that has been used in the synthesis of other drugs. This drug has been found to have constant optical properties and a molecular electrostatic potential that is intermediate between anilines and amines. It is electron deficient and nucleophilic with a phosphate monohydrate crystal structure. DCP has also been shown to be effective in clinical development for the treatment of depression. Structural analysis by x-ray diffraction showed that this compound possesses strong hydrogen bonding interactions with amines, which may explain its antidepressant activity.
