Ursulcholic acid is a carboxylic acid that is used in the production of pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds. It can also be used as a catalyst for nitrate reduction. Ursulcholic acid has been shown to have hypotensive, carboxylic, and gastrointestinal properties. This molecule also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Ursulcholic acid is not active against bacteria or fungi.
