Chloro(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)ruthenium (II) tetramer is a crystalline solid that can be prepared by the reaction of pentamethylcyclopentadienyl ruthenium with chlorine. It has been used as an oxidizing agent in organic synthesis and as an analytical reagent for elemental analysis. Chloro(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)ruthenium (II) tetramer is soluble in hexanes, which makes it easy to work with. The crystals are red in color.
