Description

(E)-Ferulic acid 4-O-β-D-glucoside is a phenolic compound that has been shown to have antifungal activity against lamiaceae. It inhibits the production of target enzymes, such as polyphenol oxidase and laccase, which are involved in the synthesis of melanin and lignin. In vitro studies have shown that (E)-ferulic acid 4-O-β-D-glucoside can inhibit the growth of fungi by encapsulating them, thereby preventing their access to nutrients and slowing down their growth. This molecule also has antimicrobial properties against bacteria. The mechanism behind this activity is not yet known.
