b-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide 3'-phosphate sodium salt hydrate is a novel anticancer agent that inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins in cells. It specifically binds to ribonucleosides and deoxyribonucleosides to inhibit their activity as nucleotides and nucleoside monophosphates. b-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide 3'-phosphate sodium salt hydrate also prevents cell proliferation by inhibiting DNA replication, which is essential for the production of new cells. This drug has been shown to be active against HIV-1 in vitro and in vivo.
