Description

Thymidine-5'-diphosphate-D-viosamine disodium salt is a nucleoside that has been conjugated to a carrier molecule. This compound is an anomeric, pyranose, and conjugate acid. It has been shown to have antiviral activity in vitro and in vivo against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), and human cytomegalovirus (CMV). Thymidine-5'-diphosphate-D-viosamine disodium salt inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA by inhibiting the incorporation of uracil into the viral DNA strand. This inhibition prevents the production of new viruses by preventing replication.
