Description

Neamine is a synthetic amine that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of cancer cells and infectious diseases. Neamine binds to the hydroxyl group of specific antibody in the active site of aminoglycosides, which prevents the formation of a covalent bond between the drug and its target. This inhibits DNA synthesis and protein synthesis in cancer cells. Neamine also has binding affinity for sulfonic acid groups, which may lead to increased solubility and reaction rates. The immobilization of Neamine on polymeric materials can be used as a chromatographic stationary phase for organic solvents such as methanol or acetonitrile. It can also be conjugated with other molecules, such as proteins or nucleic acids, for use as probes or therapeutic agents.
