Description

Pectolinarin is a natural compound that has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects. It also has biological properties, including radiation resistance and cytotoxicity. Pectolinarin has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of squamous cell carcinoma in vitro, although it is not yet known if this property extends to other cancer types. Pectolinarin induces apoptosis by binding to the response element for the p53 tumor suppressor gene and inhibiting the transcriptional activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in vitro. This compound also shows significant cytotoxicity against human squamous carcinoma cells when used at low concentrations.
