Typhaneoside is a natural product that belongs to the group of p-hydroxybenzoic acid derivatives. It has been shown to inhibit hepatic steatosis and improve blood glucose levels in diabetic mice. Typhaneoside also has antioxidant properties and has been shown to protect against glutamate-induced neurotoxicity. This compound can be extracted from Chinese herbs, such as Cinnamomum cassia, by using a variety of extraction processes. The optimum extraction process for obtaining high quality extract is still being investigated. This compound has been shown to inhibit cancer cell viability and cytosolic Ca2+ levels in vitro.
