Description :Phenyl-alpha-D-glucopyranoside is a molecule that is found in the β-cell of the pancreas. It is thought to be involved in the biosynthesis of oligosaccharides and interacts with other molecules to form glycosidic bonds. The interaction between phenyl-alpha-D-glucopyranoside and other molecules has been analysed by gas chromatography, which showed that it was hydrophobic, but also interacted with carbohydrates. Phenyl-alpha-D-glucopyranoside has also been shown to inhibit gram negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli or Salmonella enterica.
