2-(Dimethylamino)-2-phenylacetic acid is a chloride compound that belongs to the group of immunosuppressants. It is used in the treatment of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. 2-(Dimethylamino)-2-phenylacetic acid inhibits the production of cytokines by T cells, which are important for the activation of lymphocytes and macrophages. This inhibition leads to an immunosuppressive effect and reduces the body's ability to reject transplanted organs or grafts. 2-(Dimethylamino)-2-phenylacetic acid is also used as a polymerization initiator and lithographic developing agent.
