It also has a strong antioxidant activity against peroxyl radicals and hydroxyl radicals. 3-Methanesulfonylphenol also inhibits the production of hydrogen peroxide by reacting with peroxides in vivo. This results in reduced levels of lipid hydroperoxides and protein carbonyls.
