4-Chlorobenzo[d]thiazol-2(3H)-one (4CBT) is a molecule that belongs to the class of supramolecular probes. It can be used in optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy. 4CBT is an organic fluorescent probe that emits light upon excitation with UV light or visible light. The emission spectrum has a peak at 420 nm, and the solvents used for its preparation are dimethyl sulfoxide or DMSO and tetrahydrofuran. 4CBT has been shown to bind to cellular molecules, such as proteins and nucleic acids, with high intensity.
