Octyl 2-furancarboxylate is also an effective antioxidant, which may be related to its ability to inhibit free radical formation by preventing the oxidation of fatty acids. Octyl 2-furancarboxylate is also used in the manufacture of soaps and detergents as a raw material for surfactants.
