• Description: Ethyl 2-(p-toluenesulfonyloxy)acetate (ETSA) is a novel small molecule that selectively inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells. ETSA binds to the active site of betaine: dimethylamine N-methyltransferase (BADM), an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of choline and methylamine into betaine. ETSA competitively inhibits BADM, thereby inhibiting cell growth.; ETSA has also been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells in vitro, indicating its potential use as a therapeutic agent for prostate cancer.
