Description

Leucine-Enkephalin is a peptide that is composed of the amino acids leucine and enkephalin. It functions as an endogenous opioid with effects on the brain that include analgesia, sedation, and appetite suppression. Leucine-Enkephalin stimulates κ-opioid receptors in the brain and has been shown to reduce neuronal death caused by energy metabolism deficiency or cerebral ischemia. This peptide also causes autophagy and neurokinin-1 receptor activation, which can lead to significant interactions with physiological effects such as symptoms of anxiety, depression, or addiction.
