N-tert-Butyl-3-isopropyl-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazole-1-carboxamide is used for the quantitative analysis of methyl ethyl and acetonitrile in environmental samples. This analytical method is based on a liquid chromatography (LC)-mass spectrometry (MS) detection with a linear ion trap mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). The LC separation is carried out by gradient elution with a mobile phase consisting of methanol and water. The MS detection is performed in an electrospray ionization mode. The sample preparation involves activated carbon treatment followed by liquid extraction with methanol. The optimization of this analytical method was done using parameters such as solvent composition, column length, flow rate, and temperature.
