• Description: SpyTag is a short peptide derived from the CnaB2 domain of the fibronectin-binding protein FbaB protein from Streptococcus pyogenes. The CnaB2 domain has a spontaneous isopeptide bond between Lys and Asp. By splitting and rational deisgn of this domain, the peptide (SpyTag) can be used in a pair to form an amide bond to its protein partner (SpyCatcher) in minutes. This ability to self-assemble through spontaneous isopeptide bond formation works across a wide range of aqueous buffer, pH and temperatures.
