Description :
2-Amino-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-ol is an organic compound. It is a chiral, optically active amino alcohol that is used as a racemic mixture for the synthesis of 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) and its esters. This compound is also used in the synthesis of diazepam and indinavir as well as other drugs. In addition to being a building block for pharmaceuticals, this compound has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by acting on their ribosomes.
