Dihydroevocarpine is a natural product with significant cytotoxicity against a variety of cancer cell lines. It has been shown to reduce the expression of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in human monocytes and macrophages, which may be due to its ability to regulate the cell signaling pathways that lead to inflammatory responses. Dihydroevocarpine was also found to be hepatoprotective in vitro and in vivo. This compound has been shown to inhibit liver injury caused by acetaminophen, carbon tetrachloride, or bile duct ligation in mice. Dihydroevocarpine contains flavonol glycosides that are responsible for its strong antioxidant activity. Dihydroevocarpine is also an inhibitor of thrombin and fibrinogen without any effect on platelet aggregation or blood coagulation time.
