- 3-Hydroxyquinoline-2-carboxylic acid
3-Hydroxy-2-quinolinecarboxylic acid is a potent anticancer agent that has been found to be effective against a number of cancers, including breast cancer. It inhibits the synthesis of proteins, leading to cell death through an irreversible oxidation reaction. 3-Hydroxy-2-quinolinecarboxylic acid has been shown to have clinical use in the treatment of cancer and to be a potent antitumor agent. The compound is synthesized from L-tyrosine and can be converted into the final product by reacting with acetic anhydride. This conversion forms acetyl chloride, which then reacts with ammonia or methylamine. The resulting product is called didomain, which is then reacted with potassium hydroxide to form 3-hydroxy-2-quinolinecarboxylic acid. The compound's structure can also be determined using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR).
