Tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato)europium(III) is an inorganic molecule that has a dipole moment. It can be used to decouple the protons of a molecule. This reagent is useful for studying the structure of large molecules and can also be used for determining the sequence of nucleic acids by using proton NMR spectroscopy. Tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato)europium(III) has been shown to have ferrocene-like properties and can be used as an isomeric standard. The chemical shift is constant and it has a high degree of symmetry. The molecular weight is around 498.03 g/mol.
