3-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-ol is a type of natural compound called a phenolic alcohol. It has antimicrobial and antifungal properties. 3-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-ol is an intermediate in the metabolism of lignin by some fungi. This compound has been shown to have antifungal activity against cultures of Coriolus versicolor, which is a fungus that causes mushroom rot. 3-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-ol can also be metabolized by the enzyme cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase to form cinnamyl alcohol and dimethoxybenzene.
