Description

3-Amino-6-bromo-2-phenylquinazolin-4(3H)-one is the active form of a chemotherapeutic drug. It is an inhibitor of cancer cells that belong to the subgroup of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). This drug binds to the enzyme d-ribose 2'-phosphate deacetylase, which catalyzes the conversion of d-ribose 2'-phosphate to d-ribose 5'-phosphate. By binding to this enzyme, 3-amino-6-bromoquinazolin 4(3H)-one inhibits tumour growth by preventing DNA synthesis and replication. The drug has been shown to be effective in inhibiting acetylation and deacetylation of lysine residues in proteins.
