Description :
1-Hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme hydroxylase, which catalyzes the conversion of DOPA to dopamine. It has inhibitory properties against low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and fatty acid metabolism. This compound also inhibits proteases and calmodulin binding, leading to its hypoglycemic effect. 1-Hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid has been shown to have pharmacological treatment effects on diabetes mellitus type II in rats.
