9,10-Di(naphthalen-2-yl)-2-phenylanthracene (DNP) is a drug that has been shown to reduce mitral stenosis and pulmonary hypertension. It is administered intravenously for the treatment of chronic pulmonary hypertension and ventricular dysfunction in patients with chronic heart failure. DNP lowers the systolic pressure by dilating the blood vessels of the heart and decreasing their resistance. It also increases insulin sensitivity, which may be due to its ability to stimulate mitochondrial activity. DNP can be injected into a vein or artery using a catheter.
