Indotecan is a methyltransferase inhibitor that inhibits the polymerase chain reaction by preventing the formation of DNA. It has significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells and can inhibit tumor growth. Indotecan is also an inhibitor of indenoisoquinolines, which are a class of compounds that have been shown to have inhibitory properties against infectious diseases. It has been shown to be toxic to bacteria and yeast in vitro and in animal studies.
