5-Methoxy-3-benzofurancarboxaldehyde is a chemical with anticancer activity that belongs to the group of potent anticancer agents. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis and inducing cell death. 5-Methoxy-3-benzofurancarboxaldehyde has also been shown to inhibit the growth of lung cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and colon cancer cell lines. This chemical inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm.
