Description :
The 1-iodo-4-isopropyl-2-methoxybenzene (IOMB) is a reversible inhibitor of the neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It has been shown to be effective in models of chronic pain, neuropathic pain, and inflammatory pain. The IOMB was found to be an antagonist of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor at concentrations that are below its IC50 for inhibition. This suggests that the IOMB can be used as a functional antagonist for the treatment of these types of pain.
