Description

Platyphyllonol is a chemical compound that is found in the plant Pubescens. It has been shown to have hepatoprotective properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of certain viruses. It also has antiviral activity and may be useful for the prevention of avian influenza infection. Platyphyllonol has been demonstrated to inhibit the growth of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in vitro and it may have potential as an antiviral agent for HCV treatment. The antiviral effect of Platyphyllonol on HCV was observed using a cell culture assay with human epidermal cells. In this assay, Platyphyllonol was able to suppress HCV replication by up to 50%.
