Azepane-1-sulfonyl chloride is a calcium channel blocker that blocks voltage-gated calcium channels. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of peptidyl derivatives of azepanes, which are used as drugs for the treatment of hypertension. This drug has been shown to have a cerebral anti-ischemic effect by antagonizing endothelin and reducing intracranial pressure. Azepane-1-sulfonyl chloride may also be useful for the treatment of cerebral ischemia in humans.
