Description

Lacinilene C is a terpene that is biosynthesized in tissues of Bombax ceiba, which belongs to the Malvaceae family. It has been shown to have histamine H1 receptor agonistic activity and can be used as a monoclonal antibody probe for histamine H1 receptors. Lacinilene C also inhibits the oxidation of phenols by acting as an antioxidant. This compound has been found to be an elicitor of arboreum, which produces phytoalexins in response to infection or injury. In addition, Lacinilene C inhibits the growth of plant cells by inhibiting protein synthesis through inhibition of RNA and DNA synthesis. This compound also possesses anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit the production of compounds that are responsible for inflammation during infection or injury.
