Description

3,5-Dibromo-4-methoxyaniline is an ethylene precursor that is used in the manufacture of diazide and conformation mediated herbicides. This chemical has two methyl groups and a hydroxyl group. 3,5-Dibromo-4-methoxyaniline can be synthesized by the reaction of sodium nitrite with hydrogen chloride in ethylene oxide. It forms crystals with a distichum structure, which are composed of alternating layers of molecules that are oriented perpendicular to each other. These crystals have a hordenine molecule at their center. 3,5-Dibromo-4-methoxyaniline is used in the synthesis of nitrites due to its ability to form strong hydrogen bonds with water molecules.
