• Description: Micronomicin sulfate is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of sulfonamides. It has been used in clinical studies for the treatment of chronic bronchitis. Micronomicin sulfate inhibits bacterial growth by binding to fatty acid synthesis enzymes and inhibiting membrane function. This drug also has a broad-spectrum antimicrobial action, which includes activity against gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, and fungi. Micronomicin sulfate is not active against mycobacteria and is used in combination with other antibiotics for the treatment of infections caused by these bacteria. Micronomicin sulfate can be administered intravenously as an injection solution or orally as a tablet or syrup. It can also be given rectally as an enema solution or suppository. A formulation for intramuscular injection is also available but this formulation should not be injected into a vein or artery.
