Methyl cyano(cyclopentylidene)acetate (MCPA) is an inhibitor of the enzyme protein kinase A, which is involved in signal transduction. MCPA has been shown to bind to family proteins such as Bcl-2 and inhibit their activity, leading to cell death. MCPA has been validated for binding assays and shown to have high affinity for its target. MCPA has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of Gabapentin, leading to cell death by apoptosis.
