Description :3-Phenylcyclopentane-1-carboxylic acid (3PC) is a metabolite of the anticancer drug cyclopentane. 3PC inhibits mammalian cell growth in vitro and in vivo. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the activity of a number of enzymes, including cyclopentane hydrolase, cytochrome P450, and glutathione reductase. The anticancer properties of 3PC are thought to be due to its ability to inhibit steroid hormone biosynthesis or the synthesis of other cellular components that may be important for cancer cell growth.
