Description

GLPG 0974 is a fatty acid that has been activated to have anti-inflammatory properties. It binds to the epidermal growth factor receptor, which is found on the surface of many inflammatory cells. GLPG 0974 also inhibits epidermal growth factor-induced activation of hl-60 cells and chemoattractant protein production in these cells. GLPG 0974 has shown activity against autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, by inhibiting the production of antibodies. GLPG 0974 also has strong chemotherapeutic effects against cervical cancer and squamous carcinoma due to its ability to inhibit 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) concentrations in the gut.
