Description

4-Cadinen-7-ol is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of farnesyl diphosphate analogs. 4-Cadinen-7-ol has significant antifungal activity against the genus Candida and other yeasts, with a surface methodology of contact inhibition. It has been shown to be hepatotoxic in animal studies, which may be due to its ability to inhibit oxygenated reactions. Studies have also shown that 4-cadinen-7-ol is synthesized by the same biosynthetic pathways as farnesyl diphosphate. The optimum pH for production is 7.0, while the transcriptome shows that it can be produced at high temperatures (up to 45°C).
