Nemoralisin is a vinblastine analog that has been shown to have insecticidal activity. It is a potent inhibitor of the microtubule-associated protein, mcf-7, which prevents cell division and induces apoptosis. Nemoralisin has been found to be cytotoxic in vitro against cancer cells. Nemoralisin displays significant cytotoxicity against both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant cancer cells, including those that are resistant to vinblastine. This may be due to its ability to inhibit the microtubule-associated protein, mcf-7, which prevents cell division and induces apoptosis. The chemical structure of nemoralisin was determined by spectrometric data and nmr spectroscopic data. Nemoralisin also displays dichroism in the visible region of the spectrum when dissolved in ethanol or methanol solutions at concentrations ranging from 0.1% - 1%.
