tert-Butyl 4-hydroxy-1,4'-bipiperidine-1'-carboxylate is a tert-butyl ester of the tert-butyl hydrogenating agent. It is used as a catalyst for hydrogenation reactions in organic synthesis. This compound is not active as an acid or base and does not react with water. When heated to decompose, it releases carbon dioxide and ammonia.
