It has a hydroxyl group and a pluronic p123, which are polymers that are used for the preparation of cationic surfactants. 1,2-Bis(trimethoxysilyl)ethane is stable in acidic conditions and has magnetic resonance spectroscopy values of 15 ppm at −1.5 ppm. It also has high values for FTIR spectroscopy and can be used as a cationic surfactant in high salt environments. The molecular weight of 1,2-Bis(trimethoxysilyl)ethane is 270 g/mol.
